Violation of Google policies may result in account suspension, poor ads performance and unhappy shoppers. It is very important you closely follow and comply with all the requirements to ensure best ad performance.

1. No Google categories are matched or wrong category names.

Google requires merchants to categorize products according to Google product categories. Site owners cannot use their own categorization instead. You should do category mapping in the Category settings tab of the a before generating your feed.

2. No unique identifiers provided (GTIN and/or MPN attributes are missing).

Some attributes are required for all items (such as product title or availability), some are required for certain types of items (such as apparel), and others are recommended. Failure to provide a required attribute may prevent that particular item from showing up in Google Shopping results, whereas failure to provide recommended attributes may result in items showing up less frequently.
You need to submit GTIN and/or MPN attributes for certain categories to help Google classify these products.

Global Trade Item Numbers (GTIN) – 0, 8, 12, 13, or 14 digits (unique code) used within barcodes. (Books, medication, printer cartridge, etc.). If you submitted a product without the gtin attribute when the gtin attribute would normally be required, your product will be disapproved.

Manufacturer Part Number (MPN) – a series of numbers and/or letters (1–70 characters). MPNs are used to uniquely identify a specific product among all products from the same manufacturer.

To get an exception from the GTIN and MPN requirements for your products, enable ‘Set identifier to 'no' if your products don't have MPN or GTIN’ option in the Category settings tab of the add-on.

3. A required product attribute is missing.

For example, age_group attribute is required for clothes that sell in certain countries. You need to add such product attributes yourself in your Merchant Center account. Please check the full list of Google attributes here.

4. Tax and shipping rules are missing.

To show ads to a particular country or region and make sure your customers understand exact product price, you must offer correctly set up shipping and tax costs. It is important that your settings display accurate information that can help the performance of your ads. The shipping costs that you submit to Merchant Center must match the costs you charge on your website or at least overestimate those costs. Site owners are supposed to set up shipping and taxes rules in their Google Merchant because these two attributes aren't handled by the add-on. Learn more about tax settings and shipping settings.

5. Improper product titles or descriptions.

Avoid using all caps (you can still use capitalization for abbreviations, countries, and currency), symbols, HTML tags, and promotional text (such as price, sale price, sale dates, shipping, delivery date, other time-related information, or your company’s name).
Also, double-check that there are no duplicate product titles in your feed.

6. Product attributes don't comply with Google requirements.

For example, your color attributes must be 'red' or 'white'. Such values as 'as picture' or '123' will be rejected.

7. Google shopping ads policies are violated.

Make sure goods you’re selling are not considered to be prohibited or restricted content. You’ll find further details in Google Shopping ads Policy Center.

8. Key elements not visible on the landing page.

Make sure product title, description, image, price, currency, availability, ‘Add to cart’ button are displayed on your Single product page. Check that each product has at least a couple words in its description. Products with empty description will be disapproved.

9. Wrong product URL.

The domain of you product URLs must match exactly the domain claimed in the Merchant Center.

10. Wrong target country.

Your product data and landing pages need to meet the language and currency requirements for your target country. For example, the target country “United States” indicates that your items are available for purchase in the US. The items or data feed uploaded to a selected target country must meet the requirements for the target country you submit to, including the feed specifications and policies.

11. Product pages cannot be accessed (unavailable product page).

Google disables items that cannot be accessed because the landing page is not available. The most common errors are:

  • Page not found (404). Check that all product links in your feed are up-to-date.

  • Could not connect. It is crucial that your website is always available. Your website could be down due to maintenance work, so Google couldn’t accessed the landing page.

  • Product URLs must use the domain name you verified when you created your Merchant Center.

12. Standard product attributes come in a language that is different from the one used in the Attributes tab of the add-on.

For example, if you’ve translated ‘color’ attribute into ‘couleur’, you should add this French word to the Attributes tab of the add-on. Otherwise the add-on won’t be able to match ‘color’ attribute with ‘couleur’ and your feed will be disapproved because of the missing required attribute.

13. Your product has no attributes.

Items must have at least one attribute (it may vary from category to category, please check Google product feed specification) Feed cannot be generated for simple products (i.e. products that do not have any variations).

14. Google Merchant add-on does not generate feed.

Please check that 'php-xml' is installed on your Hosting.

15. I receive this email from Google. What does this mean and how to fix it?

Your Merchant Center account is in violation of the following policies:
Insufficient contact information

Failure to provide users with sufficient and accurate contact information before they start the checkout.

Suggestions how to fix this issue:

Make sure your site provides users with at least two of the following types of contact information: physical business address, phone number or email. Please note that a contact form does not suffice.
